Petcover was a proud sponsor of the recent Hawkes Bay Agility trials, held at the Hawkes Bay Racecourse, Raureka, Hastings on the 18th and 19th of November.
The Club was formed as the Hawke’s Bay Dog Obedience Club in 1963. From within a couple of months of inception, it has been based at the Hawke’s Bay Race Course in Prospect Road, Hastings.
Originally, the Club offered only training at the competition level in Obedience Trials, however, they were one of the first clubs in New Zealand to introduce Agility training. Over the years, the range of disciplines has grown and has meant that they have developed training into almost nightly classes.
The recent event was host to 1,349 entries, 36 handlers, and a total of 207 dogs.
The trials ran across 4 rings of competitions, with only 2 active at any one time, allowing competitors plenty of time to walk the courses and not be rushed.
A considerable amount of people came to watch the action, including many families, the show always seems to draw a crowd and is well-run.
Congratulations to Louise and her Cavoodle (Cavalier King Charles x Poodle) ‘Holly’ – pictured below, winning 2 x first places – Novice 3 – Small and Starters 2 – Small.
We were honoured to work with the Hawkes Bay Dog Club organisers and look forward to being involved in their club and events for 2024.
