Petcover is excited to announce our partnership with Victorian Women’s Dog Club

Petcover is pleased to announce we are sponsoring the Victorian Women’s Dog Club annual event on the 4th November 2024.

A brief Look at the history of Victorian Women’s Dog Club. Back in the early nineties, dog championship shows were held at the Melbourne Show Grounds and the show was held on the Monday before Melbourne Cup Day and always drew a great entry.

Denise, a wonderful founding President, introduced the club’s colours of pale pink and silver. She was also the driving force within the committee to establish the club’s show on the calendar of events as a ‘show to go to’.

Back then our judging panel was initially local judges before moving to an international panel. Mid-2013 saw the Victorian Women’s Dog Club liaise with Sunbury Canine Club and other clubs to introduce a panel of international judges and to share the associated cost of hosting the judges.

To remain vital and relevant to our exhibitors the club introduced two special classes in the same year: Battle of the Ashes and Breeders Teams, which reflected their move to Sunbury, and the club’s first show after moving from the Showgrounds at Salesian College Sunbury.

The Battle of the Ashes sweepstakes reflected the local history of the famous game of cricket that took place on the oval at the college. Now Australia and England battle out for the wonderful Urn which contains the ashes.

These two special classes are synonymous with the Victorian Women’s Dog Club and this event is extremely popular with exhibitors and breeders alike, and their visiting international judges also enjoy the Battle of the Ashes.

Victorian Women’s Dog Club Inc. prides itself on being a club that gives back to the exhibitor, and breeder and importantly promotes the pedigree purebred dog, this is reflected in their wonderful event entry each year.

The Battle of the Ashes is the third largest All Breeds Show in Victoria for a show held on a weekday!

As well as supporting the club, the sponsors add to the atmosphere of the show, making it even more special, and it is these sponsors that make the event possible each year for the club.

The Victorian Women’s Dog Club Inc. is an organisation that is constantly striving to improve every year. Follow their Facebook for updates.
