Give your kitten the best start with cover for accidents, illnesses and more

Kitten insurance FAQs

Should I get pet insurance for my kitten?

Insuring your kitten is a smart move. Even at a young age, they can encounter unexpected illnesses or accidents. Pet insurance can cover the costs of surprise vet bills, so your kitten will always get the care they need without the financial burden.

What age can you insure a kitten?

Take out pet insurance for your kitten as soon as you can. This way you can be covered for any new medical conditions that come up. Our policies can cover your kitten from just 8 weeks old.

How does pet insurance for kittens work?

Choose a policy that fits your needs and budget, and stay on top of your premium payments. If your kitten needs to visit the vet, you’ll usually pay the bill upfront and then contact us to claim the cost back. Before making a claim, check your excess (that’s the amount of money you have to pay towards a claim) to make sure it’s worth claiming.

For expensive vet bills, we can sometimes pay your vet directly.

How much is pet insurance for a kitten?

Kitten insurance typically costs between $32 and $69 per month.† The price depends on factors like your kitten’s age, breed, health, and the level of cover you choose. Lifetime or ‘Umbrella for life’ policies tend to be more expensive because they offer more comprehensive cover for medical conditions.

How to choose the best cat insurance

To choose the right cat insurance, consider your kitten’s age, breed, and health history. Compare our different plans, looking at cover options, exclusions, and premium costs. Select a policy that meets your kitten’s specific needs, offering the best balance between cost and cover. If in doubt, contact our friendly team for help.

Is this policy right for you?

Read the Target Market Determination (TMD) documents to ensure our policies fit your needs. These documents explain who the policy is for and how it should be used, so you don’t end up with cover that’s not right for your kitten.
